Local SEO for law firms that gets you into the map results

When someone searches "divorce lawyer near me", Google shows three firms on a map before anything else. Those three get a lot of the calls, and that's what local SEO for lawyers is about. Our local SEO for law firms gets your firm into that group and keeps it there: a complete Google Business Profile, consistent listings across the web, a steady flow of new reviews, and pages that tell Google exactly where you practice.

See whether ChatGPT, Google and Perplexity mention your firm. Your report arrives by email within 2 business days. No sales call.

Why does the map matter so much for law firms?

For most “near me” searches, the map is the first thing people see and often the only thing they use. They tap a firm, glance at the reviews and hit the call button without ever visiting a website.

That makes your Google Business Profile (GBP) one of the most important pages your firm has, even though it isn’t on your website. Google says it ranks local results on three things: relevance (does your profile match the search), distance (how close you are to the person searching) and prominence (how well known your firm is, from reviews, links, articles and listings). You can’t move your office, so we work on the other two.

Google Business Profile for lawyers, and the rest of local SEO

We set your profile up properly, keep it active and build the signals around it that Google uses to decide who’s in the top three.

  • Google Business Profile optimization

The right primary and secondary categories (for example “Family Law Attorney” or “Personal Injury Attorney”, not just “Lawyer”), every practice area added as a service, a description written for your clients, accurate hours, photos of your real team and office, and a booking link.

  • Ongoing profile management

We keep your profile current, add new photos and updates, and check for edits Google or the public suggest to your listing, because anyone can propose a change to your hours, address or phone number.

  • Regular Google Business Profile posts

Your blog posts, FAQ answers and firm news become posts on your profile, scheduled through our social media work, so your profile never looks forgotten.

  • Listings and citations

Your firm’s name, address and phone number correct and consistent across directories such as Avvo, Justia, FindLaw, Yelp, Bing Places and Apple Business Connect. Missing listings claimed, duplicates removed.

  • Reviews

A simple system for asking every client for a Google review, and replies written with confidentiality in mind. See reviews and reputation.

  • Location pages

Pages on your website for the places you serve, so your profile and your site tell Google the same story. Part of our law firm SEO.

  • Competitor watch

We keep an eye on the firms that show up next to you in Maps, and note what they’re doing that you aren’t.

Getting the rules right for law firms

Google has specific rules for law firm profiles, and breaking them can get a profile suspended right when you need the calls. We work inside them.

Real offices only

A profile needs a real place where clients can meet you during your hours. Virtual offices and mail drops don’t qualify. If you have more than one office, each one that qualifies gets its own profile, and each needs its own page on your site.

Firm and attorney profiles

Google lets individual lawyers have their own profiles alongside the firm’s, which can help or split your reviews depending on how your firm is set up. We’ll recommend the setup that fits, and clean up duplicates that already exist.

Your real business name

Adding keywords like “Car Accident Lawyer Near Me” to your business name breaks Google’s guidelines and can get a profile suspended. Your profile uses your real firm name, and we earn rankings the honest way.

Advertising and review rules

Posts follow your state’s advertising rules. Review requests go to real clients, with no incentives and no gating, in line with the FTC’s rule on consumer reviews.

Questions firms ask

How long does it take to rank in Google Maps?

Some changes show up within weeks, especially when a Google Business Profile has wrong categories or missing information. Climbing into the top three in a competitive area usually takes a few months of steady work on your profile, listings, reviews and website. We scan your Maps visibility at the start, so you can see the movement for yourself rather than take our word for it.

Can my firm show up in Maps for a city where we don't have an office?

Sometimes, but distance matters. Google weighs how close a firm is to the person searching, so your profile is strongest near your office. Further out, a strong profile, reviews and good location pages on your website can widen your reach. We don't create fake offices or virtual addresses to cover more cities: Google suspends profiles for that, and it puts your firm at risk.

Who owns our Google Business Profile?

You do. Your Google Business Profile stays in your firm's name. We're added as a manager on your profile, so we can do the work without ever holding your firm's listing. If you leave, you remove us and everything we built on the profile stays with you.

Can we use a virtual office or coworking space for our profile?

Google's guidelines are strict here. A Google Business Profile needs a real location where clients can meet you during your stated hours. Virtual offices and mail drops don't qualify, and some shared workspaces don't either. If your setup is borderline, we'll tell you straight and find the option that keeps your profile safe.

We already run Local Services Ads. Do we still need local SEO?

Usually, yes. Local Services Ads put your firm at the top of the page for a cost per lead, and they stop the day you stop paying. The map results below them are earned, and many people scroll straight past the ads to check them. The two work well together, and both lean on the same thing: a strong profile with steady reviews.
