Local organizations count too. A current profile with the Atlanta Bar Association (which runs a Lawyer Referral and Information Service), the Cobb County Bar Association, the Gwinnett County Bar Association or the State Bar of Georgia is a trusted local listing that points to your firm. We check which ones you have, and which ones are missing or out of date.
Law firm SEO and marketing in Atlanta
The Atlanta metro has almost 4,400 law offices, from downtown and Buckhead to Marietta, Lawrenceville and Alpharetta. Most people looking for a lawyer here start with a search on their phone and call one of the first firms they see. We help Atlanta-area firms show up in Google Maps, search results and AI answers, then turn those searches into signed clients.

- 1,135 of them with 5 or more staff
- Median household income $89,724
- 6.26 million people, 29 counties

A big market spread across 29 counties
Atlanta is a big legal market, and a spread-out one. The metro covers the City of Atlanta and 29 counties, with Fulton, DeKalb, Cobb, Gwinnett and Clayton at its core. Here’s what U.S. Census Bureau data for the Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Roswell metro (County Business Patterns 2023 for legal services, American Community Survey 2020–2024) means for your marketing:
| Measure | Atlanta metro | What it means for your firm |
|---|---|---|
| Law offices | 4,397 | Most practice areas have dozens of firms competing for the same searches |
| Offices with 5 or more staff | 1,135, about one in four | Plenty of competitors with real marketing budgets |
| Median household income | $89,724, about 11% above the US median | Clients who can pay, and fees that support marketing |
| Population | 6.26 million | Enough demand for specialist firms, not only generalists |
What Atlanta search results look like
We ran common searches from an Atlanta location in November 2026, mostly on desktop, including “divorce lawyer atlanta”, “immigration lawyer atlanta”, “dui lawyer atlanta” and “personal injury lawyer atlanta”. Four things stood out:
The map is almost always there
On desktop, Google showed its three-firm map on every search we checked, and it sat at the very top for injury, divorce, immigration, estate planning and workers’ comp searches. That makes your Google Business Profile and local SEO the first job.
AI answers sit on top of the urgent searches
Google’s AI Overview led the page for “dui lawyer atlanta” on desktop and mobile, for “criminal defense attorney atlanta” on desktop and for “personal injury lawyer atlanta” on mobile. We track whether your firm is named in those answers, and in ChatGPT, through our AI search work.
Directories take spots
Justia, Super Lawyers, Yelp, LawInfo and Avvo showed up in the results, and AI answers cited Justia and Super Lawyers as sources. A complete, consistent profile on each one helps twice.
Demand is real, but specific
Google estimates about 2,400 searches a month each for “criminal defense attorney atlanta”, “divorce lawyer atlanta” and “immigration lawyer atlanta”, plus 1,000 for “family lawyer atlanta”. That’s why we build pages for the cases you want, not one page for “lawyer Atlanta”.
Pages built for how Atlanta clients search
People here rarely search for “a lawyer”. They search for a case type, a town or a question about Georgia law. We plan your law firm SEO around those searches, one page each:
- Case type plus city: “divorce lawyer atlanta”, “workers comp lawyer atlanta”. Clear intent, and fewer competitors than the broad terms.
- Towns and counties: “divorce lawyer marietta”, “dui lawyer lawrenceville”, “estate planning attorney alpharetta”. Clients often want a firm near the courthouse they’ll be in.
- Georgia law questions: “can I sue if I was partly at fault in Georgia”. Under Georgia’s apportionment statute, an injured person who is 50 percent or more responsible recovers nothing, and a smaller share of fault reduces the award (O.C.G.A. § 51-12-33, applied by the Supreme Court of Georgia in Quynn v. Hulsey, 2020). Injury clients ask about it before they call.
- Spanish-language searches: “abogado de inmigracion atlanta”, about 90 searches a month. A translated page rarely ranks; a page written for the words people actually search can.
- Your attorneys: each lawyer’s name plus “lawyer”, which is what people check right before they call.

Local courts and bar groups, used properly
Atlanta-area firms work across the Superior Court of Fulton County, the Superior Court of Cobb County in Marietta, the Gwinnett County Superior Court in Lawrenceville and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia. Those names belong on your practice pages where they’re relevant, because they’re what clients and AI answers connect with a local firm.
Georgia’s advertising rules, built in
Georgia has its own rules for lawyer advertising, and some of them catch firms out online:
True isn’t always enough
Rule 7.1 bars any false or misleading communication about a lawyer’s services, including a statement that leaves out a fact needed to keep the whole message from misleading.
A responsible lawyer on every ad
Rule 7.2 says any communication about your services must include the name and contact information of at least one lawyer or law firm responsible for its content.
Lead services can’t “recommend” you
You can pay for ads and for client leads, but the comments to Rule 7.2 say you can’t pay a lead service that implies it’s recommending you or has analyzed the person’s legal problem.
The 30-day rule
Rule 7.3 bars a written solicitation about a personal injury or wrongful death claim, or another accident or disaster, until it happened more than 30 days earlier. It also bars live, person-to-person solicitation for profit, with narrow exceptions.
We write your pages, ads and Google Business Profile posts within these rules and flag anything that needs your sign-off. You still have the final say on what your firm advertises, but you shouldn’t have to catch rule problems yourself.

Questions firms ask
Do you have an office in Atlanta?
No. PointClick is a California-based company and our team works remotely, so we meet Atlanta clients on Zoom or by phone. Your marketing is about your office and your market, not ours: we plan around your address, your courts and the competitors your clients actually see.
Do you work with firms in Marietta, Lawrenceville, Decatur and the rest of the metro?
Yes. We work with firms anywhere in the Atlanta area, including Fulton County, DeKalb County, Cobb County, Gwinnett County and Clayton County. If you have more than one office, each one gets its own Google Business Profile and its own location page on your website.
Can you get my downtown Atlanta firm into the map results in Marietta or Lawrenceville?
Sometimes, but distance matters. Google weighs how close a firm is to the person searching, so your profile is strongest near your office. Further out, reviews, a strong profile and good pages for those areas widen your reach. We don't create virtual offices to cover more towns: Google suspends profiles for that, and it puts your firm at risk.
How much does law firm marketing in Atlanta cost with PointClick?
The PointClick Client System starts at $2,500/month. Firms in competitive practice areas, like personal injury and criminal defense, often need more content and link building, so they may invest more. Paid ads are an add-on at $1,500/month plus the ad spend you pay Google and Meta directly. We quote a firm number after the free Growth Audit.
How long before SEO brings in cases?
Some fixes help within weeks, like a Google Business Profile that's finally complete or a form that actually reaches you. Rankings for competitive Atlanta searches take months. We recommend at least three months for SEO, and if you need calls sooner, Google Ads and Local Services Ads can bring them in while rankings build.
