Law firm SEO and marketing in Austin

The Austin metro has more than 1,600 law offices, from downtown to Round Rock, Georgetown and San Marcos. Most people looking for a lawyer here start with a search on their phone and call one of the first firms they see. We help Austin-area firms show up in Google Maps, search results and AI answers, then turn those searches into signed clients.

A mid-sized market with money behind it

Austin is a mid-sized legal market with high incomes. The metro covers the City of Austin and five counties: Travis, Williamson, Hays, Bastrop and Caldwell. Here’s what U.S. Census Bureau data for the Austin-Round Rock-San Marcos metro (County Business Patterns 2023 for legal services, American Community Survey 2020–2024) means for your marketing:

What Austin search results look like

We ran common searches from an Austin location in November 2026, mostly on desktop, including “divorce lawyer austin”, “immigration lawyer austin”, “dui lawyer austin” and “personal injury lawyer austin”. Four things stood out:

  • The map comes first, most of the time

On desktop, Google’s three-firm map led the page for injury, divorce, immigration, estate planning and criminal defense searches. For “car accident lawyer austin”, Google’s Local Services Ads sat above even the map. That makes your Google Business Profile and local SEO the first job.

  • DUI searches look different

For “dui lawyer austin”, on desktop and mobile, there was no map at all: Google’s AI Overview led the page, with forum threads and reviews further down. The AI Overview also led “workers comp lawyer austin”. We track whether your firm is named in those answers, and in ChatGPT, through our AI search work.

  • Directories take spots

Yelp, Super Lawyers, Justia, Avvo and Best Lawyers showed up in the results, and AI answers cited Justia and Super Lawyers as sources. A complete, consistent profile on each one helps twice.

  • Demand is real, but specific

Google estimates about 3,600 searches a month for “divorce lawyer austin”, 1,900 for “immigration lawyer austin” and 720 for “dui lawyer austin”, plus longer phrases and searches for nearby towns. That’s why we build pages for the cases you want, not one page for “lawyer Austin”.

Local courts and bar groups, used properly

Austin-area firms work across the Travis County district courts at the Civil and Family Courts Facility, the Williamson County district courts in Georgetown and the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas, Austin Division. Those names belong on your practice pages where they’re relevant, because they’re what clients and AI answers connect with a local firm.

Local organizations count too. A current profile with the Austin Bar Association (which created the Lawyer Referral Service of Central Texas), the Williamson County Bar Association or the State Bar of Texas is a trusted local listing that points to your firm. We check which ones you have, and which ones are missing or out of date.

Texas’s advertising rules, built in

Texas has its own rules for lawyer advertising, and some of them catch firms out online:

  • File your ads with the State Bar

Rule 7.04 requires you to file each non-exempt ad or solicitation with the State Bar of Texas Advertising Review Committee within 10 days after it’s first used, with an application and fee. Most website pages are exempt, but your homepage isn’t (Rule 7.05). You can ask for pre-approval at least 30 days before an ad runs.

  • A named lawyer and a location

Rule 7.02 says every ad must name a lawyer responsible for its content and identify that lawyer’s primary practice location.

  • Contingency fees need more

If an ad says you work on a contingent fee, the same rule says it must also state whether the client pays other expenses, such as the costs of litigation.

  • The 31-day rule

Texas Penal Code § 38.12 makes it a crime for a lawyer to send an unrequested written communication or solicitation about a personal injury, wrongful death or other accident before the 31st day after it happened.

We write your pages, ads and Google Business Profile posts within these rules and flag anything that needs your sign-off. You still have the final say on what your firm advertises, but you shouldn’t have to catch rule problems yourself.

Questions firms ask

Do you have an office in Austin?

No. PointClick is a California-based company and our team works remotely, so we meet Austin clients on Zoom or by phone. Your marketing is about your office and your market, not ours: we plan around your address, your courts and the competitors your clients actually see.

Do you work with firms in Round Rock, Georgetown, San Marcos and the rest of the metro?

Yes. We work with firms anywhere in the Austin area, including Travis County, Williamson County, Hays County, Bastrop County and Caldwell County. If you have more than one office, each one gets its own Google Business Profile and its own location page on your website.

Can you get my downtown Austin firm into the map results in Round Rock or San Marcos?

Sometimes, but distance matters. Google weighs how close a firm is to the person searching, so your profile is strongest near your office. Further out, reviews, a strong profile and good pages for those areas widen your reach. We don't create virtual offices to cover more towns: Google suspends profiles for that, and it puts your firm at risk.

How much does law firm marketing in Austin cost with PointClick?

The PointClick Client System starts at $2,500/month. Firms in competitive practice areas, like personal injury and criminal defense, often need more content and link building, so they may invest more. Paid ads are an add-on at $1,500/month plus the ad spend you pay Google and Meta directly. We quote a firm number after the free Growth Audit.

How long before SEO brings in cases?

Some fixes help within weeks, like a Google Business Profile that's finally complete or a form that actually reaches you. Rankings for competitive Austin searches take months. We recommend at least three months for SEO, and if you need calls sooner, Google Ads and Local Services Ads can bring them in while rankings build.
