Local organizations count too. A current profile with the Orange County Bar Association (which runs a State Bar-certified Lawyer Referral & Information Service) or the Hispanic Bar Association of Orange County is a trusted local listing that points to your firm. We check which ones you have, and which ones are missing or out of date.

A wealthy market with plenty of competition
Orange County shares a Census metro with Los Angeles County, but it has its own courts, its own bar and higher incomes. These figures cover Orange County alone (the Anaheim-Santa Ana-Irvine metro division). Here’s what U.S. Census Bureau data (County Business Patterns 2023 for legal services, American Community Survey 2020–2024) means for your marketing:
| Measure | Orange County | What it means for your firm |
|---|---|---|
| Law offices | 3,050 | Most practice areas have dozens of firms competing for the same searches |
| Offices with 5 or more staff | 841, more than one in four | Plenty of competitors with real marketing budgets |
| Median household income | $116,289, about 44% above the US median | Clients who can pay, and fees that support marketing |
| Population | 3.17 million | Enough demand for specialist firms, not only generalists |
What Orange County search results look like
We ran common searches from an Orange County location in November 2026, mostly on desktop, including “divorce lawyer orange county”, “criminal defense attorney orange county”, “immigration lawyer orange county” and “personal injury lawyer orange county”. Four things stood out:
The map comes first on desktop
Google put its three-firm map at the top of every case-type search we ran on desktop, though one mobile injury search showed none. Your Google Business Profile and local SEO is the first job.
AI answers lead on mobile
Google’s AI Overview opened the mobile results for “personal injury lawyer orange county” and sat right under the map for “dui lawyer orange county”, drawing mostly on law firm websites as sources. We track whether your firm is named in those answers, and in ChatGPT, through our AI search work.
Directories take the top spot
Super Lawyers ranked first for “divorce lawyer orange county” on desktop, Justia ranked first for “immigration lawyer orange county”, and Yelp ranked first for “dui lawyer orange county” on mobile, where the AI Overview also cited it. A complete, consistent profile on each one helps twice.
Family law leads the demand
Google estimates about 4,400 searches a month for “divorce lawyer orange county”, another 4,400 for “family lawyer orange county” and 1,600 for “criminal defense attorney orange county”, plus longer phrases and searches for individual cities. That’s why we build pages for the cases you want, not one page for “lawyer Orange County”.
Pages built for how Orange County clients search
People here rarely search for “a lawyer”. They search for a case type, a city or a question about California law. We plan your law firm SEO around those searches, one page each:
- Case type plus county: “divorce lawyer orange county”, “criminal defense attorney orange county”. Clear intent, and the phrases people here actually use.
- Cities: “family lawyer irvine”, “dui lawyer huntington beach”, “estate planning attorney newport beach”. Clients often want a firm near home or near the justice center they’ll be in.
- California law questions: “does everything get split 50/50 in a California divorce”. Unless the spouses agree otherwise, a California court divides the community estate equally (Family Code § 2550). Divorce clients ask about it before they call.
- Spanish-language searches: “abogado de inmigración orange county”. A translated page rarely ranks; a page written for the words people actually search can.
- Your attorneys: each lawyer’s name plus “lawyer”, which is what people check right before they call.

Local courts and bar groups, used properly
Orange County firms work across the Superior Court of California, County of Orange, from the Central Justice Center in Santa Ana to the Lamoreaux Justice Center in Orange and the justice centers in Fullerton, Westminster and Newport Beach. Federal cases go to the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, whose Southern Division sits in Santa Ana, and state appeals go to the Fourth Appellate District, Division Three, also in Santa Ana. Those names belong on your practice pages where they’re relevant, because they’re what clients and AI answers connect with a local firm.
California’s advertising rules, built in
California’s lawyer advertising rules come from the Rules of Professional Conduct and the State Bar Act, and both reach your website, ads and profiles:
Say who you are and where you are
Rule 7.2(c) requires the name and address of a lawyer or firm responsible for the ad. Since 2026, Business and Professions Code § 6157.2(b) adds the city, town or county of a bona fide office, or your State Bar address of record.
Awards come with conditions
An ad can mention an award only if it isn’t given just for membership and the organization doesn’t charge or ask a fee for it (§ 6157.2(a)(6)).
“Certified specialist” is a protected phrase
Under Rule 7.4, only lawyers currently certified by the State Bar’s Board of Legal Specialization or another accredited body can use it, and the ad must name that body. You can still say your practice is limited to family law.
No promises about outcomes
An ad can’t guarantee the result of a case (§ 6157.2(a)(1); Rule 7.1, Comment [2]).
We write your pages, ads and Google Business Profile posts within these rules and flag anything that needs your sign-off. You still have the final say on what your firm advertises, but you shouldn’t have to catch rule problems yourself.

Questions firms ask
Do you have an office in Orange County?
No. PointClick is a California-based company and our team works remotely, so we meet Orange County clients on Zoom or by phone. Your marketing is about your office and your market, not ours: we plan around your address, your courts and the competitors your clients actually see.
Do you work with firms in Irvine, Anaheim, Huntington Beach and the rest of the county?
Yes. We work with firms anywhere in Orange County, including Santa Ana, Costa Mesa, Newport Beach, Fullerton, Orange and Mission Viejo. If you have more than one office, each one gets its own Google Business Profile and its own location page on your website.
Can you get my Irvine firm into the map results in Anaheim or Fullerton?
Sometimes, but distance matters. Google weighs how close a firm is to the person searching, so your profile is strongest near your office. Further out, reviews, a strong profile and good pages for those areas widen your reach. We don't create virtual offices to cover more towns: Google suspends profiles for that, and it puts your firm at risk.
How much does law firm marketing in Orange County cost with PointClick?
The PointClick Client System starts at $2,500/month. Firms in competitive practice areas, like personal injury and criminal defense, often need more content and link building, so they may invest more. Paid ads are an add-on at $1,500/month plus the ad spend you pay Google and Meta directly. We quote a firm number after the free Growth Audit.
How long before SEO brings in cases?
Some fixes help within weeks, like a Google Business Profile that's finally complete or a form that actually reaches you. Rankings for competitive Orange County searches take months. We recommend at least three months for SEO, and if you need calls sooner, Google Ads and Local Services Ads can bring them in while rankings build.
