Local organizations count too. A current profile with the Delaware State Bar Association (which runs an online lawyer referral service), and active membership in its sections, such as Family Law or Small Firms & Solo Practitioners, give you trusted local listings that point to your firm. We check which ones you have, and which ones are missing or out of date.

A compact market with serious competitors
Wilmington is a small market with a lot of legal weight. The Census treats it as its own metro division inside the Philadelphia metro, covering New Castle County, Delaware, plus Cecil County, Maryland, and Salem County, New Jersey. Here’s what U.S. Census Bureau data for the Wilmington metro division (County Business Patterns 2023 for legal services, American Community Survey 2020–2024) means for your marketing:
| Measure | Wilmington area | What it means for your firm |
|---|---|---|
| Law offices | 410 | Fewer firms than a big metro, so each search has a handful of serious contenders |
| Offices with 5 or more staff | 166, about two in five | A high share of established firms with real marketing budgets |
| Median household income | $90,224, about 12% above the US median | Clients who can pay, and fees that support marketing |
| Population | About 748,000 | Enough demand for focused practices, especially family and criminal law |
What Wilmington search results look like
We ran common searches from a Wilmington location in November 2026, mostly on desktop, including “divorce lawyer delaware”, “dui lawyer delaware”, “immigration lawyer delaware” and “personal injury lawyer delaware”. Four things stood out:
The map comes first
Google showed its three-firm map on every search we checked, and it was the first thing on the page for every case-type search, on desktop and mobile. That makes your Google Business Profile and local SEO the first job.
AI answers sit right under the map
Google’s AI Overview appeared just below the map for “car accident lawyer delaware” and “immigration lawyer delaware” on desktop, and for “personal injury lawyer delaware” on mobile. We track whether your firm is named in those answers, and in ChatGPT, through our AI search work.
Directories take spots
Justia showed up on nearly every search, ranking second for “divorce lawyer delaware”, “estate planning attorney delaware” and “workers comp lawyer delaware”. Super Lawyers, LawInfo and Facebook appeared too. A complete, consistent profile on each one keeps those spots working for you.
Demand is real, but specific
Google estimates about 1,600 searches a month for “divorce lawyer delaware”, 590 each for “criminal defense attorney delaware” and “dui lawyer delaware”, and 480 for “estate planning attorney delaware”. That’s why we build pages for the cases you want, not one page for “lawyer Wilmington”.
Pages built for how Wilmington clients search
People here rarely search for “a lawyer”. They search for a case type, a town or a question about Delaware law. We plan your law firm SEO around those searches, one page each:
- Case type plus place: “divorce lawyer delaware”, “dui lawyer wilmington de”. Clear intent, and fewer competitors than the broad terms.
- Towns: “family lawyer newark de”, “estate planning attorney middletown de”. Clients often want a firm near where they live and the court they’ll be in.
- Delaware law questions: “can I still recover if I was partly at fault in Delaware”. Under Delaware’s comparative negligence law, an injured person can recover as long as their negligence isn’t greater than the defendants’ combined, with damages reduced by their share (10 Del. C. § 8132). Injury clients ask about it before they call.
- Spanish-language searches: “abogado de inmigración delaware”. A translated page rarely ranks; a page written for the words people actually search can.
- Your attorneys: each lawyer’s name plus “lawyer”, which is what people check right before they call.

Local courts and bar groups, used properly
Wilmington-area firms work across the Superior Court, the Family Court and the Court of Common Pleas, all at the Leonard L. Williams Justice Center in Wilmington, plus the Justice of the Peace Court in Middletown and the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware. Business firms have one more: the Court of Chancery, which the Delaware courts describe as the nation’s preeminent forum for disputes over the internal affairs of Delaware corporations and other business entities. Those names belong on your practice pages where they’re relevant, because they’re what clients and AI answers connect with a local firm.
Delaware’s advertising rules, built in
Delaware has its own rules for lawyer advertising, and some of them catch firms out online:
A name and an office address
Rule 7.2(c) of the Delaware Lawyers’ Rules of Professional Conduct asks every ad to include the name and office address of at least one lawyer or firm responsible for its content.
“Advertising Material” on targeted messages
Under Rule 7.3(c), a letter, recording or email to someone known to need help with a particular matter must say “Advertising Material” on the envelope, or at the beginning and end of the recorded or electronic message.
No live pitches
Rule 7.3(a) bars seeking paid work by in-person, live phone or real-time electronic contact, unless the person is a lawyer or has a family, close personal or prior professional relationship with you.
“Certified” means certified
Rule 7.4(d) lets you say you’re a certified specialist only if an organization approved by a state authority or accredited by the American Bar Association certified you, and the ad names it.
We write your pages, ads and Google Business Profile posts within these rules and flag anything that needs your sign-off. You still have the final say on what your firm advertises, but you shouldn’t have to catch rule problems yourself.

Questions firms ask
Do you have an office in Wilmington?
No. PointClick is a California-based company and our team works remotely, so we meet Wilmington clients on Zoom or by phone. Your marketing is about your office and your market, not ours: we plan around your address, your courts and the competitors your clients actually see.
Do you work with firms in Newark, Middletown and the rest of the area?
Yes. We work with firms anywhere in the Wilmington area, including Newark, Middletown, New Castle and Bear in New Castle County, plus Cecil County, Maryland, and Salem County, New Jersey. If you have more than one office, each one gets its own Google Business Profile and its own location page on your website.
Can you get my Wilmington firm into the map results in Newark or Middletown?
Sometimes, but distance matters. Google weighs how close a firm is to the person searching, so your profile is strongest near your office. Further out, reviews, a strong profile and good pages for those areas widen your reach. We don't create virtual offices to cover more towns: Google suspends profiles for that, and it puts your firm at risk.
How much does law firm marketing in Wilmington cost with PointClick?
The PointClick Client System starts at $2,500/month. Firms in competitive practice areas, like personal injury and criminal defense, often need more content and link building, so they may invest more. Paid ads are an add-on at $1,500/month plus the ad spend you pay Google and Meta directly. We quote a firm number after the free Growth Audit.
How long before SEO brings in cases?
Some fixes help within weeks, like a Google Business Profile that's finally complete or a form that actually reaches you. Rankings for competitive Wilmington searches take months. We recommend at least three months for SEO, and if you need calls sooner, Google Ads and Local Services Ads can bring them in while rankings build.
